{"id":3177,"date":"2018-03-14T14:53:45","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T14:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maglusstylus.com\/blog\/?p=3177"},"modified":"2018-03-14T15:06:49","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T15:06:49","slug":"forest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maglusstylus.com\/blog\/forest\/","title":{"rendered":"Make amazing landscapes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So you&#8217;ve designed an awesome character but are struggling with the background here&#8217;s a few tips on how to create a forest background.\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I used a maglus stylus, autodesk sketch app and an ipad to create this forest background for my fox. It can be hard to display depth in a flat image <\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First create new sketch. Because we&#8217;re focusing in the landscape it helps to create a background that is wider than it is tall. For this example my sketch is 4000 x 2000 pixels[huge_it_share]<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start off by creating a gradient background. For \u00a0this i used a blue wash using the charcoal tool and then went over it with the pen tool to create the ground. I then blended them together. I filled in a gentle gradient. I began by roughly marking out where each branch is. Then using the move tool i moved the duplicate tree to where i marked out with the vertical lines. You can also flip the duplicate layer horizontally to make the trees look different to one another. (I find it helpful to hide the other layers when i&#8217;m drawing in a new layer by clicking on the eye icons in the panel on the right). These will be my mid and background trees. I Then used the duplicate and move technique used with the other trees placing them over the vertical guide lines.
