A Kids’ Scare at Halloween: How a Maglus, an iPad and a projector made magic

Two weeks ago, we organised a very special night: We teamed up with Dudley and Bonnie from Charleville Castle, Tullamore, and our German friend Benjamin Rabe to bring the spirit of Halloween to this mysterious place.

Charleville Castle is famous for its peculiar residents, living and dead, and the many unusual occurrences that have taken place there. Bonnie Vance, anchor Trustee of the Castle and one of its living inhabitants, knows them all – she is also endowed with a very special gift to tell these stories to others.

So, one afternoon, we went to Tullamore, where we got together a group of kids and asked them to draw their own versions of scary monsters in a small workshop at Robbins Toy Shop in Tullamore. Benjamin showed them how to use the app Drawing with Carl and how to animate their own short movies in Puppet Pals!

Armed with these new monsters, and stories of the ghosts of Charleville Castle, we made our way over to the grounds of the spooky mansion. Benjamin hooked his iPad to a projector and off we went!

What ensued was a very special night of ghosts and monsters (old and new), Bonnie’s intriguing ghost stories, and Benjamin’s illustrations on one of the biggest canvases we could find. The evening finished with a live Tagtool Session by Benjamin Rabe – probably the first of its kind in Ireland!

Big thanks again to Bonnie, Dudley and their team of volunteers for helping us organise a truly memorable event.
And to celebrate – there’s free shipping on everything on http://www.maglusstylus.com all week!

Carla is originally from Germany, so she definitely sees the practical aspects of the Maglus. She also really enjoys discovering the awesome things some people can do with it. Huge fan of languages, music and ardent observer of cats in and around Dublin (for lack of her own).
