Ghost Stories, Light Graffiti and (probably) Ireland’s first Tagtool Session

We have teamed up with Charleville Castle to bring you an unforgettable night of ghost stories and live art projections – to get you into that Halloween spirit!

Join us on this dark pre-Halloween night as professional storyteller Bonnie Vance tells you about her personal encounters with the invisible inhabitants of this spookie mansion. German iPad artist Benjamin Rabe will illustrate her stories live onto the walls of the castle, using just a projector, a tablet and a Maglus Stylus.
This event is for all ages and guaranteed to make the hair at the back of your neck stand up – prepare for a night of scary stories and live light painting!

After that, you can sit back, relax and enjoy a live Tagtool session by the maestro, Benjamin Rabe, himself. Tagtooling is a relatively new art, made possible through an app called “Tagtool”. It allows the user to do so-called “Light Graffiti” on the side of a big building, with nothing more than an iPad and projector. An important aspect of Tagtooling is that it is completely live, i.e. nothing is pre-recorded – everything happens in the moment.

Here is an example of a Tagtooling Session at the Reeperbahn in Hamburg:

Admission is free.

Big thanks go to Dudley at Charleville Castle, his team and Bonnie, who have helped us in every step of the way and are the most helpful and enjoyable people to work with.

All the deets you need:

WHERE? Charleville Castle, Tullamore
WHEN? Tuesday, 14 October at 7 pm
WHO? Benjamin Rabe, iPad Artist and close friend of Maglus Stylus
& Bonnie Vance, Trustee of Charleville Castle and good friend of its ghostly inhabitants
WHY? To get into that Halloween spirit!

For questions, please contact Carla at carla [at] maglusstylus [dot] com

Carla is originally from Germany, so she definitely sees the practical aspects of the Maglus. She also really enjoys discovering the awesome things some people can do with it. Huge fan of languages, music and ardent observer of cats in and around Dublin (for lack of her own).

This sounds like a great evening. I might even pick up a few tips! I’m bringing the kids along so I presume as the event will be outdoors and wrapping up will be essential. I’ve never been to the castle before, is it easy to find and get in and out of? I may be a bit late (work), how long will the event be on for?
Thanks and well done on a great product etc.

      Hi Gavin,

Thanks for your comment! Yes, the event will be outdoors (weather permitting), so please wrap up nice and warm!
The castle is very easy to find. Here are the directions from the website (http://charlevillecastle.ie/_mgxroot/page_contact_us.html):

      – Take Birr Road south from Tullamore
      – Where houses end on the right see gate lodge
      – Enter here, see King Oak Tree
      – Continue until you see the castle

The event will be on for ca. 1.5 hours. Don’t worry about being late, with the event being outdoors you’re free to walk in and out and roam around as you wish.
If you have any more questions, just email me: carla@maglusstylus.com.
      Carla
