Coderdojo workshop at Shakefest

It has been a busy few weeks for the Maglus crew, we’re excited to share what we’ve been up to with you!!

We were honoured to be part of Shakefest – a vibrant, World Cultures Art and Dance festival last weekend. It was a special event for us as it took place in Tullamore, Co.Offally – the hometown of Maglus!

We wanted to put on something special for this great event, so we enlisted the help of some friends of Maglus – German iPad artist Benjamin Rabe and drawing maestro Fabric Lenny. Both guys do some really diverse work – iPhone art, animation, web design and collaborations with other creatives is just a flavour of what they get up to!

First up, the guys held a small Coderdojo workshop on Friday evening for a group of kids.

The new Maglus stylus brush tip – Painting from dawn to dusk

CAPTURING IRELAND

How many pictures could you create in a day?

We sat artist and animator Fergal Brennan down, equipped with nothing more than a brush-tipped Maglus stylus and an iPad (using Procreate app), in front of the ever changing light outside his window. His singular goal was to complete 5 minute sketches from 7am to 7pm.

How did he get on? Wonderfully! He managed to produce 65 very beautiful sketches. We were so impressed, that we convinced him to composite them into a 30 second animation, complete with soundscape. The result can be seen below, highly evocative and available to be enjoyed by anyone who would like a 30 second stroll down Sandymount Strand in Dublin, Ireland.

An artist’s insight to using Maglus – Susan Muratugh

Happy Monday guys, Paula here. I thought it was appropriate to share this feel good post today and get the week off to a positive start. So, read on and enjoy!

In the short time I’ve been working at Maglus, I’ve realised that the Maglus customers are more than ‘customers’. They’re loyal followers and supporters who genuinely care about our brand. Interacting with these lovely people is what I view as a perk of my job. An example being, US Artist – Susan Murtaugh. I’ve only been chatting to Susan a few weeks, but am hugely impressed by her amazing art and warm personality! I was surprised and equally delighted to receive a glowing review of Maglus from her. Rest assured, she took the time to write the content below without being asked(harassed or bribed!)

As the saying goes – “Its nice to be important, but more important to be nice”
So here at Maglus, it goes without saying that we’ll continue to be nice. If every customer is half as satisfied as Susan, we’ll be doing something right!

Chris Hadfield, a Space Oddity

We’ve a guest blogger this week: accomplished digital designer Sailesh Vaghela walks us though the creation of his breathtaking winning entry to our Draw Chris Hadfield competition.

Hi my name is Sailesh, I created the winning entry for the Chris Hadfield competition set up by the fine people at Applydea. The competition was to create a piece of art using the Maglus stylus, and to have Chris Hadfield as the main focus.

This blog post will explain some of the processes in how I created my winning piece, all done with the awesome Maglus stylus.
